LIS will communicate important information and events through this monthly newsletter, Skyward messages and emails, the LIS Facebook page and Parent Square. Parent Square will be the MCSD communication platform, replacing Class Dojo.

The Skylert system is the main source of family contact for important district information, such as late buses, delays, early dismissals or school cancellations. In order to relay messages to parent/guardians, LIS must have accurate contact information in Skyward. Please notify the LIS office immediately in any changes in phone, email or home address.

You can access your child's transportation arrangements, grades, attendance and more through Family Access. Attendance excuses can also be submitted through Family Access. Family Access can be entered by going to the MCSD website, select Students/Parents and then Family Access Login. To obtain your account information, contact the LIS office at 717-242-5801.

Over-the-Counter Medication forms were handed out to students on the first day of school. This form must be completed and signed by a parent/guardian in order for students to receive medication from the school nurse. If your child has not submitted the Over-the-Counter Medication form to the Nurse’s Office, your child will not receive medication at school. Forms are available in the Nurse’s Office.

As a reminder, students are NOT permitted to carry any medications on their person during school hours. This includes cough drops, medication creams, eye drops or anything used for medicinal purposes. Any medication that is required to be taken at school MUST be transported to and from school by a parent/guardian or designated adult and accompanied with a physician’s order. Parents and guardians are required to sign medications into the Nurse’s Office at drop-off.

If your child requires an inhaler, a new physician order must be submitted to the school nurse EACH school year before your child can carry an inhaler on their person. Failure to do so is a violation of the MCSD Medication Policy. Please contact the School Nurse with any questions.

LIS has qualified to be a Community Eligibility Provision school. This means we will be offering one FREE breakfast and lunch for all students who attend LIS for the entire 2026-2027 school year.

Please do not send your students to school with coffee, energy drinks or soda.

Please make every effort to have your student to school daily and on time. Every day in school matters!

Every year students need a signed permission form for their pictures to be used in newsletters, posted to Facebook and Parent Square, as well as used in The Sentinel. The Media Release Form can be accessed and printed here below. If you would prefer a paper version sent home, have your student see Mrs. Parson in the office. The form can also be filled out in Skyward.

November 24 PM and November 25 AM are scheduled conference days this fall. However, parents can request a parent-teacher conference at any time throughout the school year. Parents can contact the teacher, school counselor, and/or principal to schedule a parent-teacher conference.

If your child is struggling academically or not attaining academic standards at a proficient level, please reach out to your student's teacher or the building principal for information about tutoring programs and accessing additional academic assistance.

We are ready to begin another paw-some school year with you!

Our PBIS team is excited to begin the new school year looking for positive behaviors among the student body! The four core behaviors staff will be teaching and looking to acknowledge include being RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, READY and SAFE! Be sure to ask your student if they earned any points for their positive behavior each day!

We can't wait to see all the positive behaviors and academic growth in our 4th and 5th graders this year!

Mifflin County School District School Board Policy 105.1 requires annual notification to parents/guardians and students that parents/guardians and students have an opportunity to review instructional materials and have access to information about the curriculum, including academic standards to be achieved, instructional materials and assessment techniques.

Mifflin County School District School Board Policy 906 requires annual notification to parents/guardians that the School Board welcomes inquiries, suggestions, and constructive criticism from parent/guardians, district residents or community groups regarding the district’s programs, personnel, operations and facilities. The Board adopts this policy to establish procedures for seeking appropriate resolution to complaints.

If provision of instructional supplies imposes a financial hardship on a family, the school district can assist with some of these costs. An application process for such materials is located under MCSD Policy 110, and is available for review on our website. Families may also contact Mrs. Mattey to see if you qualify for any assistance with school materials.
